Golden Visa Eligiblity
To apply, you must:
- Be a fit and proper person
- Invest at least NZD $5 million under the Growth category, or at least NZD $10 million under the Balanced category, in acceptable New Zealand investments
- Transfer your investment funds to New Zealand
- Show that your investment funds were earned or acquired lawfully
- Meet all other Immigration New Zealand requirements

Staying Longer in New Zealand
The Active Investor Plus Visa is the first step towards making New Zealand your long‑term home. After holding this visa for at least 24 months, you can apply for a Permanent Resident Visa.
With a Permanent Resident Visa, you and your family can live, work, and study in New Zealand without time limits. You can also travel in and out of the country indefinitely, as long as your visa is kept in a valid passport.
Removing Section 49 Conditions
Some visas are issued with section 49 conditions. These are specific requirements you must meet before becoming a permanent resident. To have these conditions removed, you will need to:
- Provide a cover letter requesting removal of section 49 conditions
- Submit valid passports for everyone included in your application
- Show evidence that you have met the conditions, such as a letter from an independent accountant or solicitor
- Provide proof of your residence address during the required period
There is no cost to remove section 49 conditions, but it is important to submit the correct evidence to Immigration New Zealand.
